Susegad

Susegad is a Konkani word with no exact English equivalent. Goans use it for the contentment, fulfilment and ease that people everywhere link with Goa and its way of life. Clyde D'Souza, a bestselling author and proud Goan, explains what helps Goans reach that state and how readers anywhere can bring a little of it into their own lives.

He guides readers through Goa's beaches and lush greenery, its food, the blend of Portuguese and Konkani culture, and its history, festivals, music and architecture. Along the way, the book shows what makes Goans tick and how they have built habits and routines that bring calm and happiness.

Interviews with well-known Goans, short stories, recipes and pictures add to the portrait of what it means to be Goan and encourage readers to find their own susegad.
