About this book
Erin is 26 and has just watched an affair collapse and her career in the arts fall apart. She goes back to the family farm in New Zealand to stay out of sight for a while. Her mother is chronically ill and is looked after by Erin's aunt, who has taken on the role of carer.
Shortly before Erin arrives, she learns that her mother has decided to die by her own choice, and the date is set for the following Tuesday. Over the few days that remain, Erin gets to know the unusual people in the surrounding community and deals with a family whose relationships are knotted and difficult. Her mother is a spirited, self-reliant woman, and Erin is preparing to lose her.
Like her mother and aunt, Erin was once a competitive swimmer. She has to honour her mother's final wishes and repair a troubled relationship before time runs out.
