Tall Willows

Ruth Willows is a high school student whose life is upended when she finds the body of the Golden Valley School District's budget coordinator in the abandoned darkroom of her school. The killer is an unidentified woman, and the crime sends shock waves through the school and the wider community. Ruth is pulled into the case as the budget records point toward someone quietly stealing money from the district. At the same time, she is drawn into a romance that is ethically complicated. In the summer before her senior year, she met a man who now turns out to be the school's new English teacher. Ruth must manage that tangled relationship while also confronting corruption and working out who the murderess is. The story combines suspense with its romantic storyline and follows Ruth as the danger around her grows.
