Tangerine

Paul Fisher needs thick glasses, and his new home in Tangerine County, Florida, is anything but ordinary. A sinkhole has swallowed the local school, an underground fire has smoldered for years, and lightning strikes at the same hour every day. Paul also has to put up with his brother, a star football player who never lets up on him.

Paul's luck starts to change when he joins the soccer team at his middle school. His new teammates help him explore what is hidden beneath the town's surface. He also finds the courage to confront family secrets that have been kept from him for much too long.

This middle-grade novel suits readers who enjoyed Wonder, Holes and Bridge to Terabithia.
