About this book
This volume gathers the papers accepted for the 6th IFIP WG 5.5/SOCOLNET Doctoral Conference on Computing, Electrical and Industrial Systems (DoCEIS 2015), which took place in Costa de Caparica, Portugal, in April 2015. Of 119 submissions, the organizers chose 54 papers after peer review.
The contributions come from doctoral programs in engineering and report both finished findings and work still in progress. Their focus is the design and use of engineering systems built on cloud computing. The conference was organized around collaborative networks, and the papers are grouped under cloud-based manufacturing, reconfigurable manufacturing, distributed computing and embedded systems, perception and signal processing, healthcare, smart monitoring systems, and renewable energy. Energy-related work covers management, decision support, simulation and power conversion.
The collection suits researchers, engineering doctoral students and practitioners who want to see how cloud technology is being applied across manufacturing, energy, healthcare and related fields.
