Temporary Insanity

Alice Finnegan is in her thirties, single, and stuck in a run of grueling clerical temp assignments. Her long-held dream is to perform on stage, but for now she shares an apartment with her grandmother, who is past ninety and was once a Ziegfeld showgirl with plenty of spirit and wit.

Her route to independence takes her past an assortment of eccentrics, control freaks, and relatives. Office flings and difficult supervisors complicate matters further as she tries to hold onto her composure and find her way into the spotlight.

The novel follows Alice through the less glamorous side of temporary office work, with a warm, hopeful tone that treats her struggles with humor while keeping her ambition in view.
