The Conjunction

Hope is a magical thief, and the shanty town that has grown up ahead of the coming Conjunction offers some of the richest pickings she could hope for. She believed her savings were enough to leave the trade behind for good, but a tragedy in her family pulls her back for one final job. Can she protect her loved ones and her city at the same time?

Galen is an accomplished surgeon with a hidden past. To save his brother, he has pursued knowledge that should never have been touched and staked everything on it. Only one ingredient remains: dream-steel, which is anything but cheap. When Hope's job goes wrong, she learns that a find does not always stay with the finder, though she may uncover something she never expected. To recover his dream-steel, Hope and Galen must set their differences aside, all while a mad scientist plots to turn the power of The Conjunction against the city.

This is the first book in the Hope Gray series of urban fantasy novels, featuring a spirited heroine, a slow-burning sweet romance and a touch of steampunk. Readers who enjoy Seanan McGuire, Annette Marie or Rachel Aaron are the audience for this debut from Taryn East.
