The Crew
About This Book
Fans of the scrappy band of misfits in Kings of the Wyld or the irreverent wit of Deadpool may take to this fantasy tale, which unfolds in a landscape inspired by Arab culture. Varcade has settled in the desert realm of Harrah to put distance between himself and his former life as an Educator, one of the zealous warrior-monks who try to remake the world by force in the name of their sacred Teachings. He now earns his keep as a hired blade who looks out only for himself. That selfish routine is upended when he is hired to assemble a crew of rowdy assassins and bring down the powerful Bone Lord of Akrab. The Bone Lord, however, has caught wind of the scheme and sends her Dusters, people who have gained strange and deadly powers by inhaling powdered bones of slain gods, to stop the group before it can strike. Hunted by both Educators and Dusters across a kingdom where tensions between humans and demons are close to erupting into civil war, Varcade and his unlikely allies must decide whether they can free Akrab from the Bone Lord's cruelty or whether they will only make matters worse.
