The Defector

Gabriel Allon owes a debt to Grigori Bulganov. In Moscow, the Russian intelligence officer once saved Allon's life, and Allon is not a man who leaves such favors unpaid. When Bulganov, now a defector, disappears, Allon pulls together his trusted team of operatives and sets out to find the people who took him.

The hunt leads across several countries and turns into a running fight with a ruthless adversary. That adversary is Ivan Kharkov, the same sadistic Russian Allon faced in the previous novel, Moscow Rules. This time Allon has to beat him for good.

As the pursuit goes on, Allon begins to suspect that his enemy already holds the key to winning. Pressing ahead may cost him more than he is able to bear. The Defector is a Gabriel Allon espionage thriller by Daniel Silva and follows directly on from Moscow Rules.
