The Den

Stefan Fox's heart attack has brought his four children to his bedside, along with a substantial inheritance that will be split evenly among them. Valerie, the eldest, hopes the gathering can be peaceful despite years of resentment between her and her siblings. Lucy, the carefree sister who rarely takes responsibility, is there, as are the two strained brothers, Christian and Jeremy. Keeping watch too is Marian, the family's former housekeeper, who served the Foxes for forty years.

Stefan raised his children through harsh discipline, teaching them to compete rather than cooperate. Those lessons now shape a deadly contest over the family fortune, where the rules are simple: the fewer siblings left, the bigger each remaining share.

When a suspicious accident occurs, Valerie senses that worse is still to come. She must decide whom she can trust, and the wrong choice could be the most dangerous of her life. This psychological suspense novel comes from Cara Reinard, the author of Into the Sound.
