The Devil's Maverick

Alva Grace Eastman had hoped to build a fresh future for herself, but her journey ends when pirates seize her vessel and carry her off aboard the Diablo. Her captor is Elijah Maverick, a pirate whose reputation precedes him. Alva has little reason to expect mercy and sees no easy way out, yet she keeps searching for a route to freedom.

Her view of him begins to shift after he rescues her from danger not once but twice. Alva comes to see that the carefree rogue she assumed he was hides a far more complicated man, one who is compassionate and cannot stand to see the innocent oppressed. Elijah is haunted by nightmares from his past and bent on revenge, and he has begun to find in Alva the human warmth he has been missing. Alva has secrets of her own, including a past that has left her with misdeeds to answer for and a strong urge to shield those who cannot defend themselves.

As their bond deepens, the couple face powerful enemies who want to separate them, from the Royal Navy to a plantation owner fixated on Elijah. Together they must struggle to survive and hold on to each other and their liberty.
