The Edge
About This Book
FBI agent Ford "Mac" MacDougal is laid up in a hospital, still healing from a terrorist car bombing, when word arrives that his sister Jilly has driven her Porsche off an Oregon cliff. It looks deliberate. Jilly is a medical researcher, and nothing in her life suggested she would do such a thing. Stranger still, Mac, lying in a bed on the opposite side of the country, feels as though he were in the car beside her as it plunges toward the sea.
By the time he reaches Portland, Jilly has woken from four days in a coma. She spends only a few hours with her brother before vanishing without a trace. Mac begins asking questions, but every person he talks to gives him a different version of events, and none of the accounts fit together.
While he searches, the local sheriff asks for his help with another baffling case, the murder of an elderly resident. Mac has no reason to think it has anything to do with his sister. Fellow FBI agents Lace Sherlock and Dillon Savich, who also appear in Coulter's earlier novel The Target, come to back him up as the two investigations begin to converge.
With no one safe to trust and pursuers who will not let up, the three agents have to stay alive long enough to trace the web of corruption beneath the quiet Oregon setting. The Edge is an FBI suspense novel that mixes a missing-person hunt with a murder case and a hint of the uncanny.
