The Eunuch's Heir

Kattanan duRhys is remembered as the man whose bravery rescued a kingdom, a reputation his son has little hope of matching. Wolfram duRhys, the prince, fills his days with women, drink, and parties, and wants nothing to do with his father's name. His indulgent life comes to an abrupt end when someone tries to kill him. In the aftermath he uncovers a deception that has shaped his whole life, along with a grim fate waiting for him.

He is forced to escape to a faraway land where magic is common and much is unknown. There he must win the heart of a sheltered young woman who has never left her cloister, and he must also provoke a priestess who is set on bloody vengeance. The future of a threatened realm now depends on a prince who was never interested in anything but pleasure and who has no wish to be a hero. What he does next will either save his world or reduce it to ash.
