The Heist

FBI Special Agent Kate O'Hare has built her reputation on relentless discipline, hunting down some of the most wanted criminals in the world and getting them locked up. Her boss calls her tenacious and ambitious. Her friends call her stubborn and a little obsessed. For the past five years, the only target that has really mattered to her is Nicolas Fox, an international crook she would like to catch in more ways than one.

Fox is a born con man with a talent for elaborate swindles aimed at very high-profile victims. He started out in it for the money, but these days he does it for the thrill. He knows the FBI is closing in, and he knows Kate has been tracking his every move. Being chased by a beautiful woman, even one determined to put him behind bars, is half the fun. Then, just as he seems to be caught for good, Fox pulls off his boldest trick yet: he talks the FBI into hiring him to work alongside O'Hare.

Their first assignment tests both her patience and his skills. A corrupt investment banker is hiding out on a private island in Indonesia, and the two must bring him down with the help of a ragtag crew that includes flamboyant actors, wanted getaway drivers, and Kate's own father. Expect high-speed chases, pirates, and plenty of Toblerone along the way, provided the partners don't finish each other off first.

This is the first book in the Fox and O'Hare series, written by Janet Evanovich with Lee Goldberg, a television writer known for his work on Monk.
