The Hunter

NYPD detective Leigh O'Donnell has lost both her job and her marriage through reckless behavior. When three suspicious drownings occur in her hometown of Copper Falls, Ohio, she goes back, hoping that solving a triple homicide might put her life on track again.

Leigh has avoided Copper Falls for decades, though her three loving uncles and her brother still live there. The town looks idyllic, but something rotten sits at its center. Headstrong and intuitive, Leigh is willing to face a killer. To learn the truth, though, she must also untangle a web of secrets that stretches back generations and confront what the town keeps hidden, as well as what she is hiding from herself.

The Hunter is an atmospheric suspense debut by Jennifer Herrera. It works as a tight mystery and as a study of the stories and lies people build their lives on.
