The Joke Machine

The Joke Machine is a storybook from Oxford Reading Tree, the reading scheme that has taught generations of young children to read through the characters Biff, Chip and Kipper. Written by Roderick Hunt, it is one of the core titles in the scheme's graded stories. This edition comes with new covers and fresh illustrations by Alex Brychta, whose artwork has a distinctive style that young readers tend to enjoy.

The scheme's stories and characters are unchanged in these new editions, and the artwork has been redrawn for its core titles. The book is designed for children learning to read, and it is supported by teaching materials, including guided reading cards and free teacher's notes, along with take-home cards for parents and carers.
