The Mastermind

Remington Starke does his best work in the shadows, at least until Audri Wu lights a fire in him and gives him a new sense of purpose. He is compelling, gifted, and striking to look at, but he is also a dangerous man with a plan and a past that won't let him go. That past alone should keep him away from the only woman who has ever stirred real feeling in him.

Audri is inventive, careful, and shrewd, yet a guilt she can't shake weighs on her heart. Even in her gloom she notices the beauty in hard circumstances and the warmth hidden behind the cold exterior of a man known for breaking hearts. To her, Remington is a boss, a guardian, and her brother's closest friend. He is also her opposite in nature, the element that meets her heat.

When the romance takes hold, his history comes roaring back, burning away the falsehoods and exposing dangerous secrets that threaten to destroy them both. The Mastermind blends a brother's-best-friend and billionaire-boss setup with suspense inside a modern romance. It is the first book in the WaterFyre Rising series, but it can be read on its own.
