The mentor

A writer has stalled, and his wife arranges for an assistant to help him break through. The young woman she brings in is attractive, and she also proves to have real writing gifts. The husband begins an affair with her, planning to draw on her talent to build his own reputation. What he does not see is that she has her own plans for him. The novel is about manipulation in both directions, with each character treating the other as a means to an end.
