The Second Perimeter

Joe DeMarco works as a fixer for John Mahoney, the scheming Speaker of the House, and he is good at making problems disappear in Washington. When a seemingly small fraud case at a United States naval base lands on his desk, he expects a routine assignment. What he uncovers is an Asian spy network siphoning highly classified information about nuclear submarines. Its leader is a lethal woman with a grudge against Emma, DeMarco's close friend and trusted adviser, who spent years as a retired Defense Intelligence Agency officer.

As the investigation deepens, DeMarco finds himself repeatedly one step behind opponents far more dangerous than any he has faced before. Each move he makes seems to be anticipated, and he begins to wonder whether he can safeguard the nation's most sensitive secrets, let alone keep himself and Emma alive.

The novel is a fast-paced spy thriller set in the corridors of Capitol Hill and the military installations around it, and it is the second book in Mike Lawson's series about DeMarco.
