The Shadow Box
About This Book
Artist Claire Beaudry Chase has been attacked and left for dead in her home on the Connecticut coast. Afterward she does not know whom to trust. Her prime suspect is her well-connected husband, Griffin, who is running for governor. Shortly before the attack, Claire had been getting ready for an exhibit of her shadow boxes. One of them plainly accuses Griffin of a violent crime from twenty-five years ago. If the public learned the truth about him, his political career would be finished. Claire is convinced that her husband and his powerful backers would kill her to keep it quiet. Then an acquaintance of Claire's is murdered, and the authorities suspect the killing is tied to the attack on her. As two investigations proceed, Claire must decide how much she is willing to sacrifice to bring down her husband and the corrupt circle of elites who will go to any length to protect Griffin's interests and their own. The novel is by Luanne Rice.
