The Shadows

Trez was a child when his parents sold him to the Queen of the s'Hisbe. He got out of the Territory, but he never really got free. For years he has worked as a pimp and an enforcer, running from the fate that was set for him, which is a life of sexual servitude. He trusts almost no one. The one exception is his brother, iAm. iAm has spent his life trying to stop Trez from destroying himself, and he fears he has already lost that fight. Then the Chosen Selena comes into Trez's world, and for the first time the male starts to turn himself around. But the change comes too late. Trez once pledged to mate the Queen's daughter, and that promise is now due. He has nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and no room to bargain. Trez faces a brutal choice. He can fight the bond and put himself and others in danger, or he can give up the female he loves. Then tragedy strikes and changes everything, and iAm must decide whether to make the ultimate sacrifice for his brother. This is a novel in J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, built around a love story and the fierce loyalty between two brothers.
