The Silversmith

Ary Gold is still reeling from the mysterious deaths of her father and brother, and she survives in the icy wilds of the North on sheer will. Then strangers arrive with tales of long-lost magic, and she is pulled into a destiny far bigger than her grief. The realm of Nyrida is under threat from an ancient shadow wielder who has risen and means to drown the world in corrupted darkness. According to the strangers, Ary is the only one who can stop him. They tell her she has royal blood, that magic runs through her veins, and that she is already promised in marriage to a powerful commander whose army is her best hope of winning the coming war. Her hardest test may not come on the battlefield, however. The man assigned to turn her into a warrior is cold, arrogant and impossible to read, and he is steeped in violence and secrets. He is not her betrothed, but he could be her undoing. As an attraction she cannot resist grows between them, Ary must decide whether to follow her destiny or risk everything for a love as wild and dangerous as the power awakening inside her.
