The Tiger's Apprentice

Set to premiere as an original animated film on Paramount+ beginning February 2, 2024, this middle-grade fantasy stars Henry Golding, Lucy Liu, Brandon Soo Hoo, Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh, and Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh.

Tom Lee's ordinary life is turned upside down when he meets Mr. Hu, a tiger who can talk. Tom learns that he has magical abilities and responsibilities he never could have imagined. Frightened and unsure of himself, he nevertheless joins Mr. Hu's mismatched band of creatures, which is working to keep an ancient talisman away from the most dangerous enemy imaginable.

The story unfolds in a hidden realm that exists alongside our own, where animals can take human form. Here, friendship becomes the strongest weapon against evil, and the young protagonist must protect both the world he knows and the larger one he is only beginning to discover. The companions include an outlaw dragon and a playful, mischievous monkey.

Laurence Yep, a two-time Newbery Honor winner, is also the author of Dragonwings and Dragon's Gate. This updated edition includes a new introduction by Yep.
