Thinking Mathematically 8th

Math can feel far removed from everyday experience, and this course text is designed to bridge that gap. Written for students who are not majoring in mathematics, it works through a wide range of real-world problems to show how useful and engaging the subject can be. Examples include judging whether online classes are worth the investment, building models of coronavirus case numbers, and ranking the highest-earning celebrities, among many others.

The eighth edition refreshes the exercises and examples that many instructors already know, bringing in new topics and current data. It also introduces free online technology and learning resources. Throughout, the author's conversational and approachable style presents mathematics as a meaningful part of the world we live in.
