Tiger Thief

Many centuries ago in India, ten-year-old Sharat travels with his father's circus and performs astonishing feats alongside his white tiger, Emira. The troupe reaches the City of Jewels, where they are to perform for the young Emperor Suleiman, his entourage and the frightening Doctor Rookh. Then Emira mysteriously disappears.

Determined to get her back, Sharat sets off on a quest that leads him through the city's sewers, across an enchanted garden, past crystal caverns and down into a magical underworld. Along the way he and his friends uncover the terrible secret at the heart of the Empire.

This fast-moving adventure through medieval India is full of ghouls, jinnis and magic. It is the first book in The Queen of the Forest trilogy, and it leaves readers eager for the next.
