Total Recall

Douglas Quail lives in Earth's 2089 and is plagued by dreams of Mars, secret assignments, and a far more exciting existence than his own ordinary one. Seeking relief, he visits Recall, a company that sells artificially created memories. The procedure plants a false past in his mind, but he begins to suspect that the dreams he had were real recollections all along.

This novel is Piers Anthony's adaptation of the 1990 science fiction film, which was itself based on a short story by Philip K. Dick. It explores identity, memory, and what it means to trust one's own mind in a future where experiences can be purchased.
