Trade and Development

Ten essays on current questions in international economics make up this collection, which began as papers delivered at a conference at Lancaster University. The authors revised their contributions after receiving feedback from Professor Jagdish Bhagwati and other participants.

Each contributor is a specialist in the area they cover and surveys the present state of debate on a chosen topic. Rather than closing the discussion, each essay points toward further investigation. Because the writing is clear, the volume is meant to serve both academic economists and those who shape policy.

All ten essays address policy questions that Bhagwati has explored at length in his own work, so the book works as a set of focused responses to his ideas on trade and development.
