Turf Wars

The killing of three drug dealers, one of them carried out in plain view of a police surveillance team, sets off a wave of violence across one of France's most infamous suburbs. A new boss has taken control of the area and relies on a merciless teenage enforcer to tighten his hold on it. Meanwhile, the local mayor, who has long dealt with the underworld, is ready to strike a deal with dangerous people to secure a third term in office.

Captain Coste and his team, who are willing to bend the rules, step in to stop the drugs squad from using an elderly man who looks after a drug stash as bait. When violence spills across the housing estates, Coste's officers must focus on simply staying alive.

This is the second crime novel by Olivier Norek set in this suburb. Norek is a former police officer and bestselling author whose books have sold a million copies, and he also wrote for the hit TV series Spiral. He again draws on his years working as a police officer in the country's crime capital, giving the story a grounded feel. The English edition was translated from the French by Nick Caistor.
