Twins

Chloe and Sue are identical twins approaching their thirteenth birthday. To prove that their bond is stronger than DNA, they agree on matching tattoos. The two blonde, beautiful sisters are left to figure out adolescence, and each other, as they grow up.

The story follows them over five years. Along the way they deal with breakups, Hawaiian vacations that do not go well, unicycle lessons, eating disorders, pill abuse, and their first tentative experiences with love and sex. The narration alternates between the two sisters, so readers hear each of their voices in turn.

Set in the suburbs, this debut novel by Marcy Dermansky blends dark humor with candid scenes of teen anxiety, obsession, and the possibility of redemption.
