Umbria

Umbria is established as one of the most popular destinations in Italy, and the increasing number of cheap flight opportunities means that this trend should continue. This "Blue Guide" provides in-depth coverage of the region, and should be suitable for those touring by car and for tourists who prefer to get to know one or two places really well. The familiar "must sees" of Perugia, Assisi and Orvieto are given detailed descriptions, and those unfamiliar with places such as Gubbio, Norcia or Bevagna will probably want to visit them after reading this guide. Also included is information about restoration programmes which affect the opening times or layout of churches, galleries and monuments. The hotel and restaurant recommendations throughout the guide have been updated and revised, and there are maps and town plans to help the reader find their way around.
