Unbalancing

Beneath the waters near the Gelle-Geu islands, a star lies asleep, and its restless stirring grows harder to ignore. Ranra Kekeri has just taken over as starkeeper and already has a reputation for skill. Her attention keeps being pulled toward the tremors that are getting stronger, and she must also untangle the problems her predecessor left behind.

Erígra Lilún is a poet who wants nothing more than to be left alone, yet their ancestor Semberí keeps pressing them to take up the starkeeper's duties. Semberí also insists on sharing puzzling stories about how the goddess Bird rescued the stars.

When Ranra and Lilún finally meet, an attraction sparks between them. Their magical deepnames fall into an unexpected pattern that reveals the trouble moving under the tides. For the two of them, their story is only beginning, but for the people of Gelle-Geu, it may already be too late to save their home. The novel also explores how communities and the worlds they inhabit are inevitably transformed.
