Understanding Humanism

Religion has long given people a framework of values and rules to live by. Yet some people find that path doesn't suit them, particularly if they reject belief in a god or in fate. For them, humanism offers an alternative: a philosophy holding that people are self-directing and shape their own lives, with no higher power stepping in. This guide lays out that outlook and shows how readers can think it through with careful reasoning and analysis, so they can chart their own course.
