Unsafe Sects

Interest in cults has run through American culture for decades, and in other countries as well. Yet the word itself is slippery. What counts as a cult, and by what standards should a religious movement be labeled one? This book takes up those questions. Written as an accessible primer on unsafe sects, it approaches the subject largely from an orthodox Christian viewpoint, looking at who tends to join such groups and what draws them in. Woven throughout are the author's own firsthand experiences with cultic groups.
