Unspeakable Things

Yesterday, Damien Attica killed a trophy hunter on a golf course. Today he lies on a hypnotherapist's couch and relives a former life as Lieutenant Damienne, known as Dee, an American woman in World War Two who crossed an ocean to halt Adolf Hitler's advance across Europe.

Her mission ends when the Nazis seize her and lock her inside Ravensbruck, a women's concentration camp north of Berlin. Alone and freezing on her prison bunk, she dreams of an earlier life in ancient Greece, where she was a frightened boy lost at sea, calling for help the way Orpheus did in Hades. In that life she was a prophet whose singing could draw birds and animals to her.

Dee also carries a song, one that brings ruin on those who harm the innocent. She is the Orphic Assassin, reborn.
