Untainted

Vera has always been skilled with a blade and at passing for human, but following rules and keeping her temper in check have never come easily. Raised in the heart of the Matherin Empire, she has spent most of her life hiding what she is and what she can do.

Then she makes a reckless choice. She confronts a mysterious stranger she has spotted trailing the Crown Prince, and the encounter goes badly. The man insists she holds a power his people desperately need. He is determined to get home and will not leave without her. Staying would offer Vera a future she never imagined for herself, while leaving may be her only chance to learn where she came from.

Every answer she uncovers about herself raises new questions, and none of the pieces line up. Vera must decide what to do with her life and with the ancient power living inside her.
