Urmila

In the Ramayana, Urmila is a nearly overlooked figure. She is Lakshmana's wife, who endured his long absence and, through all those years, carried out her own duties with grace and dignity. Her character has rarely been given the space it deserves.

Asha Prabhat's Urmila brings her out of the margins of the epic and places her at the center of the story, so that the Ramayana can be seen through the experience of the woman left behind.
