Vellum

Set in 2017, this novel imagines a world where angels and demons move among ordinary people. They were once human, but a machine-code language woven into reality itself has changed them into beings called unkin. Their quest centres on the Book of All Hours, a legendary volume said to contain the blueprint of all existence. It has gone missing in the Vellum, an endless realm of eternity of which our own world is only a small trace.

The Vellum is where the unkin muster for war. It is also the stage for an old grudge between a fallen angel and a rebellious devil. Past, present and future meet here, colliding with ancient worlds and older myths as the story moves across its many layers.

The book is the first part of The Book of All Hours, and its sequel is Ink. It is written for adult readers who enjoy dense, imaginative fiction that blends theology, cosmic mythology and speculative ideas.
