Waking in Time

Abbi is still grieving her grandmother when she starts her freshman year at UW Madison, haunted by the old woman's last words: "find the baby." On her second morning on campus, she opens her eyes in 1983. It is the first of many stops as she is pulled steadily further into the past. Meanwhile, Will, a charming student from 1927, is moving in the opposite direction, into the future. The two cross paths somewhere in between, and an unexpected romance complicates both their lives.

The pair pass messages through a time capsule buried on campus, working to understand what is happening to them, locate the missing infant, and reunite. Their greatest ally is a gentle physics professor who seems to grow younger every time Abbi sees him. Readers will find plenty of campus life to compare across the decades, from the 1920s to the present.
