About this book
Bernard and Melody Earls are a pair of thieves who are attractive, clever, and broke, so they take from the wealthy and keep the proceeds. When Alexander Hamilton Plaskett asks them to lift a silver statuette of a pine marten from his brother Paul Revere Plaskett, they accept the commission. The job is harder than it sounds. The figurine is protected by Fitzroy Fortresses, a top-tier security system, and the five Plaskett siblings are a ridiculous bunch. Bernard suspects the job may be worth more than the fee suggests, since a pine marten carving should not be worth fighting over so fiercely.
To learn what the family is hiding, Bernard and Melody work their way into the Plasketts' circle and recruit a university computer whiz to crack the Fitzroy system, which is supposed to be impossible to breach. The stakes are high: a botched job means financial ruin, and getting caught means prison. Bernard's carefully planned scheme also faces an unpredictable problem, namely Melody's habit of improvising when the plan calls for her to stick to it.
