About this book
What Is Called Thinking? is Martin Heidegger's inquiry into what it means to think and what calls on us to do so. The book grew out of lectures he gave at the University of Freiburg. Along the way it engages with thinkers such as Nietzsche and Parmenides, and it is one of the main texts of his later philosophy.
It is also the only systematic presentation of that late work. Hannah Arendt regarded it as just as important as Being and Time for anyone trying to become acquainted with Heidegger's thought, and she counted it among his most exciting books.
The English translation is by J. Glenn Gray.
