When Water Flows

When Water Flows is the second in a series of poetic board books rooted in Mexican Indigenous wisdom. The series draws on Mexican concepts to help very young children build a genuine, heartfelt bond with nature. Its aim is to invite them to witness the natural world, value it and grow into caretakers of the planet.

This installment turns to water. It shows water as essential to all life on earth, since it helps us grow, feeds us, cleans us and heals us. Because water touches and gives life to every living thing, the book presents it as a sign of how everything is connected.

Aida Salazar, an author of middle-grade novels, writes here for the youngest readers in lyrical text. The text is in English with a few Spanish words woven through. Vibrant, mystical illustrations accompany the verse, making a meaningful first reading experience for small children.
