Where Eagles Dare

It is winter 1943, and the Nazis have captured US General Carnaby. He is held in a fortress high in the Bavarian Alps, the headquarters of the German Secret Service, and his head holds the plans for the invasion of Normandy.

A team is hastily put together: British commandos, a US Army ranger and a female secret agent. They are to parachute into the area, break into the alpine castle and free the general before the Germans can interrogate him.

But there is a second mission that none of them knows about, and one member of the group is a traitor. Alistair MacLean wrote this Second World War adventure.
