White plague

Far north, in the icy Arctic Ocean, the USS Montana, a sophisticated nuclear submarine, has been left drifting after a fire broke out aboard. Its surviving sailors may not last long, and the vessel itself could sink with them. The nearest rescue unit belongs to Marine physician Joe Rush, a specialist in biological terror. He has roughly a day and a half to reach the stricken boat. His mission has a second goal: keeping the Montana out of hostile hands, since a foreign submarine is closing in and could push the standoff toward open conflict.

Rush and his team soon learn that the danger is greater than the fire and the enemy vessel. Something is loose on the submarine with the crew. It is a lethal organism of the kind that once swept across the world and killed huge numbers of people, and the Montana's sailors have released it without realizing what they were doing. Rush must now protect the crew and the boat while also preventing a pathogen with the potential for global devastation from reaching the rest of humanity.
