Wild Card

Sebastian Rousseau is a grumpy fire pilot with a reputation for skilled hands, and the narrator cannot stop thinking about him. The complication is that he is also her ex-boyfriend's father.

The two met by chance, but a missed connection kept them apart. A year later, fate puts them in the same house, and whatever lies between them becomes tangled and awkward. She still thinks of him as she falls asleep and has not managed to get over him, however hard she tries.

Sebastian is trying to repair a strained relationship with his son, and both of them know that giving in to their attraction would be the worst kind of betrayal. Even so, she can see the heat in his eyes, and the mutual longing is close to unbearable. They both understand the rules that apply to a situation like this, but she has never been good at following rules.
