Wildacre

A house meant to offer shelter can become a trap when its past is painful. Isla Barrow accepts a live-in carer position over the Christmas period, looking after Jessica Lockhart, an elderly woman who needs daily help. Reaching the isolated property means a tiring drive along winding rural lanes. When Isla finally arrives, she finds her employer distressed and the house deeply disquieting.

The weather turns against them, the landline is dead, and there is no mobile signal to call for help. As Jessica grows steadily frailer, Isla comes to believe that death is approaching, and that a more vengeful force is at work as well. Both women are keeping secrets, which makes trust difficult. They must find a way to make amends before the presence haunting Wildacre destroys them both.

Christmas is usually a season of celebration, but this story unfolds during the darkest time of the year.
