Winding Willow

Hubert Cumberbun, a brave young mouse, is on his way home, or at least a way home. Wind hides his path and shadows flicker. He comes upon a mysterious tree full of tempting lost and found treasures: his brother's runaway shoe, his father's umbrella, and the key to the family house.

To carry his finds home, Hubert must cross a surreal, snowy landscape and get past the hungry owl who lives there. Clutching his umbrella, he soars above the wintry world below and gets back in time to share a loaf of cinnamon bread with his family.

This picture book is a companion to Will Hillenbrand's earlier picture book The Voice in the Hollow, and it can be enjoyed by fans of that book or newcomers. It has sparse text, large-scale artwork, and a double gatefold surprise.
