Wire Zoo

Wire Zoo is a picture book biography of Elizabeth Berrien, a neurodivergent artist who made three-dimensional wire sculptures and became known as the godmother of contemporary wire sculpture. It is suggested for fans of The Girl Who Thought in Pictures.

Elizabeth has always seen the world in her own way. When she looks at an animal, she imagines energy lines flowing across its body, some thin and some thick, some bright and some dim. These lines make each animal unique and beautiful, and she wanted others to see them too.

Drawing was not her strength, so she tried many other kinds of art, but none of them felt right. Then she discovered wire sculpting, and that began her journey of sharing her vision with the world through wire animals.
