Witches

Rolfe is a farmer's son who sets out to see the wider country and discover how its other people get by. He is especially curious about the crops other farmers grow. Physically larger than most men, he can hold his own in a fight, yet beneath that strength is a tender, generous nature and a desire to aid anyone in trouble.

Anyone who provokes him, however, will soon regret it. Along his travels he rescues the Queen and also finds the woman he will love. As thanks for saving the Queen, the King gives Rolfe the deed to a plot of land beside his father's farm.

Meanwhile, two witches take men from a town on the kingdom's northern edge and use them as assassins. More than once, one of these killers has tried to murder Rolfe.
