Worn Skin

In this story, tattoos are more than decoration. Anyone who knows what to look for can read a hidden language of magical markings on people's skin.

Nick is a suicidal alcoholic with an encyclopedic knowledge of tattoos. He then meets a mysterious man called The Painter, who inflicts pain through tattoos charged with supernatural energy. Nick finds horrors in body art that even his expertise has not prepared him for.

At first the idea of finding meaning in suffering appeals to him. When The Painter kidnaps a little girl, though, Nick is shocked into seeing what real torment is. To stop The Painter and rescue her, he must travel into a mystical underworld full of magic, mutilation and pain.

His enemies are fuelled by the ruin of the flesh, but Nick is no stranger to self-destruction.
