Wrath

Marcus Sedgwick, the author of Midwinterblood and The Ghosts of Heaven, has won several awards for his writing. In this tense novel he turns to teenage life and relationships, and to the uneasy link people have with the natural world around them.

Cassie Cotton has always been a little out of step with everyone else, and that difference is what catches the eye of her classmate Fitz. Cassie can hear a sound that most people never notice or recognize. She believes it is the Earth signaling that it is in distress, harmed by human activity that drives climate change. When she begins to speak about this, she is mocked and bullied at school, and then she disappears.

Fitz is determined to find her, but he has no idea where to begin, and he is not sure whether he can reach her in time.
